Two Australian built A/A guns being checked over before testing in the field

Scene inside the Commonwealth Ordnance Workshops showing two Australian built anti-aircraft guns being checked over before testing in the field. One of three drawings in the collection made by the artist during his tour of Commonwealth Munitions facilities in 1940. It shows the assembly floor to be a clean, brightly lit space with the men overshadowed by the size of the guns. The artist's appreciation of the beauty of machines was shared by the General Manager who commented 'The aeroplane is the loveliest thing a man can make - and next to that is the gun that shoots it down.'
