Camouflaging General Grant tanks
Description
This depicts portion of the initial preparation of General Grant tanks for delivery to battle stations. The tanks received from America were a dark khaki colour, and were then camouflaged to Australian conditions. The bridge weight of 27 tons were painted in a yellow circle on the front, also the divisional insignia - in this case 1st Armoured Division. In the foreground are mess tables and on the left from a beam, hangs the wheel used as a mess gong.
