Tank profiles
Description
MK 3 Light (General Stuart) tanks at 189 Sturt Street, South Melbourne (1st Australian Ordnance Depot). They have been overhauled, camouflaged and are awaiting despatch to units. An air compressor, mainly used for operating paint spray-guns, is in the background against a wall. The gun mounting plates of these tanks, modelled like brutal heads, faintly reminiscent of a rhinoceros' skull, seem to express dull superiority and a piggish contempt of humanity and its fanaticism's.
