Bombed house near the air strip, Iraklion, Crete
Description
The town Iraklion is described in the Official War History as Heraklion. Heraklion was one of the points where German air-borne troops were landed in the invasion of Crete. The 2/14th Australian Infantry Battalion, attached to the 14th (British) Infantry Brigade, held positions near here when defending the airstrip in May 1941.
