DescriptionThe Australian positions were on extreme top right of picture, the meteorological station at hight point at left. In the depression running up the centre of the scene was a cornfield in which the German parachutists landed and were driven from, when the Australians set fire to the cornfield and drove them out. This action took place while the 2/4th Battalion were attached to the 14th (British) Infantry Brigade in a determined defence of Heraklion airfield, in May 1941.
