Preparing rice for pastry, Changi
Description
In the top picture Australian POW's are seen mincing cooked rice for pastry. In the second picture men are shown grinding rice with a home made grinder manufactured form odds and ends of scraps. Rice was supplied to the prisoners by the Japanese and was a staple of their diet for the length of their captivity. They learnt from Dutch prisoners different ways of preparing the rice to create variety.
