Australian troops swimming under Malanda Falls
Description
Before the war came to northern Australia, the people in Atherton Tableland lived somewhat remote lives. As the war progressed, the Tableland became the base camp for and northern training centre for three divisions of Australian troops moving into New Guinea and beyond. The Atherton Tableland area is rich in lakes and streams and accordingly, in between army training troops spent much time bathing by day and night.
