VDC hauling gun into position for coastal defence on North Queensland coast
Description
Dargie noted, "This sketch depicts one of the activities of the VDC [Volunteer Defence Corp] in the danger period, before Australia's defences were properly organised against a Japanese attack on the northern mainland. If the anticipated attack had come at this stage, the major portion of the task of defending the North would have fallen to the VDC".
