Private Cyril Croft
Description
Depicts a portrait Private Cyril Croft (VX39686), 2/29th Australian Infantry Battalion. Originally from Coventry, England (b.1903) Croft enlisted on 3rd January 1941 at Royal Park Victoria. He served in Malaya and was wounded in action on 24th January 1942 anbd was taken prisoner-of-war by the Japanese from 16th February 1942. In April 1943 Croft was one of 3662 Australian soldiers assigned to '"F" Force from Changi prison camp to labour on the Thai Burma railway. He was repatriated to Australia in October 1945.
