Cooking rice on deep fry stove, Changi
Description
To cope with the requirements of many thousands of men, three large deep-fry cooking stoves were constructed in Changi Goal. Here a round-the-clock staff turned the monotonous rice into more appetising fare. Three prisoners deep-frying rice to increase palatability. With rice the staple ingredient in the mens diet in Changi, the prisoners sought many different ways of cooking it to decrease the monotony.
