Description

Australian soldiers withdrawing from Parit Sulong on the Muar River during the defence of Malaya and Singapore. A scene typical of many in the fight down the Peninsular. Troops, being cut off by Japanese infiltration, breaking up into small groups and making their way as best they could back to their own lines, very muddy and disillusioned.
