Official opening of Garden Island, Graving Dock
Description
On the 24 March 1945 Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester officially opened the Captain Cook Dry Dock, Sydney. Artist Emerson Curtis was there to witness and this is a colourful depiction of the scene on the day. A large audience is seated in front of a large ship on the deck of which are standing figures, indistinctly shown. Sydney Harbour Bridge is just visible in background.
