Signals unit
Description
The Signals unit in the foothills of the Owen Stanley Ranges during an overnight 'dogfight' aerial combat with Japanese fighter aircraft. This sketch was made prior to Ashton's appointment as official war artist while he was on active service as a corporal with the Signals Corps.
