Lockheed Hudson on road at 7Mile Drome
Description
A Lockheed Hudson is depicted on the airstrip at 7 Mile Drome. The plane on the left was bombed and destroyed. The Hudson was developed by the Lockheed aircraft corporation from its successful Electra airliner to meet a British requirement for a navigation trainer. The Hudsons served with the air force of Australia, Britain, Canada, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa and the United States. With the onset of war in the Pacific, the Royal Australian Air Force employed the Hudson in a variety of roles, including maritime patrol, reconnaissance, transport and bombing.
