Gaza Ridge Camp
Description
Depicts an encampment at Gaza Ridge, with the town of Deir Suneid in the distance. The artist writes 'Part of Gaza Ridge camp (Kilo 89) - new trenches on the site of old Turkish earthworks.' This was produced as part of the artist's Syrian Campaign series. The campaign involved Australian troops, mostly from the 7th Division, fighting alongside allied troops against the Vichy French in Syria and Lebanon.
