Description

The Army of Republic of Korea (ROK) Wolfpack Headquarters on Yong Puong Do (Yeonpyeong Island), with HMAS Bataan (RAN destroyer) and other United States Navy and ROK patrol craft in distance. It was painted by official war artist Frank Norton during several shore days while on patrol with HMAS Baatan. Norton recorded that this view was painted looking south from the highest point of the island. The artist also painted the view looking east towards the US Army installations. (See ART40012). The grey skies reflect the tropical weather with the artist also noting that 'it rained almost constantly the entire time I was ashore at Taeyongp' yong Do [sic]' and that he needed to restretch and wash over some of the drawings he had started there.
