A raid on enemy machine gun positions
Description
Depicts a small group of soldiers crawling through barbed wire and over crops in a field in Marne, France, during the First World War. Inscribed on a piece of paper for merely attached to the drawing was the following text; 'Marne / The army does not always occupy a place on the heels of a retreating enemy. These little squads go out searching / for strapplers, mines and other dangers left by the enemy'.
