Sandbag position, Komoro Airport, Dili
Description
Depicts an Australian soldier sitting in a sandbag position with the Minimi (Light Support Weapon) at the ready at Komoro Airport, Dili, East Timor. This work reveals much about the mundane, everyday aspects of peacekeeping witnessed by Amor, emphasising the physicality of the soldiers and their work. Rick Amor was appointed official artist, East Timor, in 1999 and spent time with the Australian led International Force there (INTERFET) .
