[Gallipoli landscape]
Description
A dramatic Gallipoli landscape with cliffs. The cliffs are evoked through Nolan's use of mottled and striated patterning in deep red, black and brown and the sky is mottled golden. Although these landscapes hold their own beauty, the colours are quite harsh reminding us of the difficulties the young Gallipoli soldiers had faced on the other side of the world.
