Barbed wire entanglement
Description
Gallipoli soldier entangled in barbed wire. Nolan viewed many photos of the soldiers at Gallipoli at the Imperial War Museum, London and would have seen photos of many dead soldiers, both Allied and Turkish, tangled in barbed wire. Nolan is lamenting the awful loss of life of these young soldiers.
