[Gallipoli landscape, semi-abstract]
Description
A sketchy landscape with blue sky with vertical strokes stretching upwards. The landscape is overlaid with blobs of blue, red, green and black, suggestive of devastation. The artist stated in an interview (13 April 1978) that landscapes like this one relate to devastation following battle.
The work was presented in memory of the artist's brother Raymond who drowned in 1945 on returning from military service at the end of the Second World War.
