Cove at Hydra
Description
Cove at Hydra, with cliffs and blue sea. In interview of 13 April 1978 artist stated that the cove depicted was at Hydra rather than Anzac Cove. According to Nolan chronology the Nolans were in Greece from November 1955 to April 1956, and at Hydra early 1956.
This work was presented, along with 251 other Nolan's from the 'Gallipoli' series, in memory of the artist's brother Raymond who was drowned in 1945 on returning from military service at the end of the Second World War.
