[Soldiers in battle]
Description
Two naked Gallipoli soldiers in combat, one with rifle. The standing soldier appears to be Australian, indicated by the slouch hat, and the soldier astride his back appears to be a Turk. Often the soldiers fought in hand to hand combat and it was often boasted by the Australians that 'they [the Turks] will not face our bayonet' although it was also felt the Turks were worthy opponents.
