Description
Recto: depicts trees and foliage, there is one large tree, one smaller shrub and two sketches of branches. Verso: depicts unfinished landscape.
Browning was commissioned to gather visual information along the Kokado track for the production of a series of dioramas back in Australia. In order to capture the details of the tropical environment Browning created a combination of watercolours sketches along with a series pen and pencil drawings. His decision to use pen and pencil was made to more accurately record botanical details that the limitations of a medium like watercolour might miss.
