Description

Bound sketchbook of 14 pages containing 11 drawings including title page and two loose sheets, five blank pages, and two fascimiles of cartoons on paper. The sketchbook was produced at the time of John Coburn's enlistment in the Royal Australian Navy during the Second World War. Whilst in the Navy he travelled around the Pacific and Indian oceans as a radio operator, drawing images from these travels. Many of the drawings represent places Coburn traveled to whilst aboard HMAS Nepal, including Sri Lanka, Papua New Guinea etc. There are also images of HMAS Nepal and life aboard the vessel.
