Sketchbook [marbled covered sketchbook containing 7 sketches]
Description
Artists sketchbook covering the campaign in the Somme Valley, 1918. The sketchbook comprises 6 pages, with 7 drawings of landscapes, encampments and military bands. Inscriptions on the inside front and back covers.
The sketchbook is bound in a hard cover covered with marbled paper. Some pages have been excised. This sketchbook is from Streeton's first official war artist commission to France 14 May-13 August 1918 where he worked mainly around the Somme battlefields.
