Australian fleet entering Sydney Harbour
Description
Depticts a procession of seven military vessels entering the heads of Sydney Harbour.
On 4 October 1913 the Royal Australian fleet entered Port Jackson, Sydney Harbor in the following processional order; battlecruiser HMAS Australia, cruisers HMAS Melbourne, HMAS Sydney and HMAS Encounter and the destroyers HMAS Warrego, HMAS Parramatta and HMAS Yarra. Many of the vessels featured in this historic event were newly commissioned for the Royal Australian Navy including HMAS Australia. On the steps of Admiralty house, Admiral Sir George King-Hall, the last flag officer of the Royal Navy's Australian Station handed over command of the Australian station to the Royal Australian Navy.
