Description
This poster depicts a worn and tattered French flag. The central white panel there is a list of battle honours for regions in France (la Marne, l'Yser, Champagne, Verdun, Artois, Argonne, l'Aisne, la Somme, l'Alsace, les Flandres), and asks for subscribers to a loan for postwar reconstruction at Credit L'ouest, 13 Boulevard Hausseman, Paris.
Georges Scott Bertin (French, 1873-1942) was a successful artist who painted portraits of many notable international figures. Scott worked as a reporter and illustrator during the First World War, often featuring in the French journal 'L'Illustration'.
