Boys! Come along You're Wanted
Description
British recruiting poster in the style of British silhouette artist Harry Oakley, who produced poster designs for the war effort. This image is based on a poster called 'Boys come over here, you're wanted', which was also created in 1915. The orginal used a technique that was sophisticated at the time, superimposing a photograph onto a drawing; it had more detailed maps of Britain and France behind a photograph of a young soldier. This version turns the soldier into a black silhouette, and France and England into yellow silhouettes. The title occupies the right side of the poster, running from the top right corner to the bottom right corner, and is printed in black ink.
