Description

Letters relating to the First World War service of Lieutenant Robert James Henderson, 13th Battalion. These letters were written from Henderson to his family between 3 July and 30 December 1916. The letters detail the fighting at Pozieres in August 1916, Henderson remarking on the awful nature of the fighting and the toll it took on the 13th Battalion. He writes on being thrown into the fighting for a second time that month and subsequently being wounded by a machine gun bullet which passed through his right leg.
