Description

The Muslim pilgrim site at Nebi Musa [or Nabi Musa] in the wilderness of Judah. Early in February 1918 the Anzac Mounted Division, under General Chauvel, cooperated with the 60th Infantry Division (Londoners) in the advance from Jerusalem upon Jericho. The Londoners operated down the main road, while the Anzacs fought their way through the wilderness region to the south of Nebi Musa. The New Zealanders, after a brief struggle, carried the great hill in the background, and the 1st Light Horse Brigade penetrated to the Dead Sea.
