Government House, Sydney, NSW. 23 April 1971. It was a proud day for Warrant Officer (WO) Aleck McCloskey of Newcastle, NSW, when he was presented with the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) by the Governor of NSW, Sir Roden Cutler at Government House recently. WO McCloskey received the DCM in recognition of his outstanding leadership and sustained bravery during numerous operations in the Dak Seang area in Kontum Province, South Vietnam. WO McCloskey was attached to the South Vietnam forces as an adviser. He was later an instructor with the 2nd Royal New South Wales Regiment (Citizen Military Forces) in Newcastle. With him are his wife (right) and his aunt, Mrs Short, also of Newcastle.
