Description
Group portrait of four unidentified convalescent patients at No 3 Australian Auxiliary Hospital near Cairo. Three are carrying bundles, which suggests that they were about to return to the field. The auxiliary hospitals were established to take the overflow from the main hospitals as wounded and sick men from the Gallipoli Peninsula poured into Egypt; they were equipped to take convalescents and light cases.
