Description

Australian soldiers supervising the arrival of wounded Turkish prisoners at a Cairo train station. The prisoners were captured during an unsuccessful attempt by the Turkish army to seize control of the Suez Canal in early February 1915, which was repulsed by British forces. Medical orderlies are conveying one of the wounded from the hospital train (centre), while other prisoners are lined up against the carriage behind. Several nurses are visible amongst the Australians at right.
