Tripod
Description
Lightweight, camera tripod used by the Japanese armed forces during the 1930's and 1940's. Three black painted, brass, telescopic legs can be extended up to four times their stored length to form various combinations of height and support. Fitted to the top of the tripod is a circular steel disc with three slots to accomodate the pivoting legs and a central threaded hole for attaching a camera or like equipment. Impressed into the top and bottom of the steel disc is a single cherry blossum flower design.

This tipod was found at Buna, New Guinea in 1943 by NX162344 Private C S Griffiths of 151 Australian General Transport Company.
