Description

MacLaurin's Hill showing the grave on right of Lieutenant Colonel Henry Normand MacLaurin, 1st Brigade Headquarters, who was killed in action on 27 April 1915. The grave of 1486, Sergeant Athol William McKinnon, 3rd Battalion of Port Macquarie NSW, who was killed in action on 6 June 1915, is in the centre and the grave of 1159 Private Percy John O'Brien, 3rd Battalion of West Maitland NSW was killed in action on 6 June 1915 is on the left. The three graves, just below the ridge line, have had crosses placed above them by the Graves Registration Unit after the war. Taken from Braund's Hill looking east. One of a series of photographs taken on the Gallipoli Peninsula under the direction of Captain C E W Bean of the Australian Historical Mission, during the months of February and March, 1919.
