Employment is required for Returned Soldiers...
Issued by the State War Council of Victoria towards the end of the First World War this poster targets Employers to register their interest in offering positions to Returned Soldiers at their offices in Collins Street or with Stationmasters and Officers in Charge of Police Stations. Labour was called for in a wide variety of skilled and unskilled jobs. Jobs in particular were sort for men who had lost limbs during their service. The poster features a full length portrait of an Australian soldier in uniform in the lower right. A veteran of Gallipoli his ANZAC patch is visible on his left shoulder and a medal featuring the image of Queen Victoria is on his chest. The rest of the poster is filled with text printed in red and blue. Both the image and text are set within a double gold border.
