Ingram, William James (Trooper)
Description
Letter written by 255 Trooper William J Ingram of 4 Queensland Imperial Bushmen Contingent who served during the Boer War. Ingram wrote the letter from Pretoria on 18 January 1901 to his sister. He describes his general disillusonment with army life, noting an engagement at Pretoria on 15 July that his contingent arrived too late to be involved in. He also mentions an encounter at Waggons Wright on 21 July that resulted in over 14 allied casualties. He then lists a series of dates relating to various skirmishes, July and September, 1901, that occurred around Pretoria.
