Description
Length of First World War German manufactured Maxim machine gun feed belt with rivetted brass dividers and longer rivetted brass spacers placed every third round. The belt has been cut and attached to a brass British issue General Service belt buckle dating from the reign of Queen Victoria. The belt is threaded through each end of the buckle and secured to itself using lengths of leather thong threaded through the rivet holes. The buckle shows a Victorian crown surmounted by a lion. Around it are the words 'DIEU ET MON DROIT'.
