Description

Light blue flag with the colour patch for the RAA, 1 Australian Corps. The colour patch is triangular in shape and divided diagonally red over blue. The flag has ninety-three signatures surrounding the colour patch by the members of the unit. The signatures are signed with an indelible pen and are stained with beer around the signature.

History / Summary

This flag and was in the care of Alan Robinson and was flown in ANZAC Day marches in Sydney. Robinson's signature appears in the top right hand corner next to the colour patch. Alan Robinson was born on 8 July 1910 in Durham, England. He worked as a bank officer before enlisting in the Second AIF. Robinson had three years prior military service with the militia, serving with 30 Battalion (NSW Scottish Regiment). He enlisted in the Second AIF on 3 June 1940 at Paddington NSW and was taken on strength of 1 Anti-Aircraft Regiment. Here he rose to the rank of sergeant and saw overseas service in New Guinea.
