Description
The village of Sphakia, situated on the southern coast of Crete. Sfakia Cove, visible in the midground, was the site of the Allied withdrawal from Crete over four nights, beginning on 28 May, 1941. Over 12,000 Allied troops were evacuated in a series of naval convoys, some of which sustained damage from German aerial attacks, to Alexandria.
