Description

M20 anti aircraft machine gun mount for a .30 calibre M1919 Browning machine gun. The mount is made entirely from steel products, apart from two scalloped brass winding handles that control the traverse and elevation and a flat brass plate which supports the front mounting pin and bracket. The mount consists of a curved pressed steel cradle with an inner graduated race and a travel lock fitted to the right side. The cradle is bolted to a cast steel pintle which also forms the support tube. A bracket for holding a .30 calibre ammunition box is welded onto the left side of the cradle. The quick release front mounting pin and bracket, which secures the front of the machine gun to the mount, is included. One other 'L' shaped pin with chain is fitted to the left rear of the cradle. The pins are suspended from light guage chain. The rear mounting pin is missing.

History / Summary

This type of anti aircraft machine gun mount was fitted to the M3 Stuart tank series and many other U.S. armoured and soft skin vehicle types.
