Josiah Barnes collection of First World War negatives and prints
A random group of men picked out from kit inspection, whilst waiting to board the troopship RMS Persia. The kitbag in the front left belongs to 1150 Private (Pte) Roy Walter Dick, of the 7th Reinforcements, 3rd Light Horse Regiment, 1st Light Horse Brigade, of Riana, Tas. Soldier holding up kitbag labelled Stubbings and possibly repacking after inspection, 2504 Pte George Albert Stubbings, 7th Reinforcements, 12th Infantry Battalion (according to Embarkation Roll he is shown as boarding at Adelaide, SA on HMAT Kanowna (A61) on the 24/06/1915). Fourth person from right is 4950 Gunner (Gnr) Michael Frederick Sarich, of 7th Reinforcements, 3rd Field Artillery Brigade (3FAB), an engineer of Greymouth, NZ. Gnr Sarich is holding a long narrow kitbag and a dark kitbag with his name painted on it is sitting in front of him.
