Informal group portrait of three Australian airmen attached to No 181 Squadron RAF standing in front of a Hawker Typhoon IB aircraft. Identified, left to right, are: 413188 WO Ronald Desmond (Gilbo) Gilbert, killed in action during a flying battle over France on 19 August 1944; 416269 Flying Officer Thomas McGovern; Warrant Officer (WO) Jack Rendall. Hawker Typhoon IB aircraft were the only aircraft flown by No 181 Squadron during its entire operational career.
