NCOs private purchase field grey woollen Waffenrock jacket : Unteroffizier, Nassauisches Feldartillerie-Regiment Nr 27, German Army
Germany Army NCO's field grey private purchase Waffenrock jacket of an unteroffizier of the Nassauisches Feldartillerie-Regiment Nr 27. This single breasted eight-button jacket has a stand and fall collar with NCO's grey woven braid and black piping. All of the buttons are brass and bear the Prussian crown. Both of the front panels have red edging. A red woollen flaming grenade badge of the type worn by field artillery units has been sewn onto the shoulder strap, above a red '27', which is embroidered. A pocket with a flap that slopes downward from the front to the back, has been let into both sides at the hip. The two-button Swedish cuffs have black edging and NCO's grey woven braid. A brass belt hook has been fitted on both sides of the waist. The slash in the rear skirt has red edging and two buttons on either side, above which is the usual two buttons that support a belt when it is worn. The jacket is lined with dark olive green coloured polished cotton and the sleeves with cream, except for a 90mm wide band around the inside of the cuff, which is white with black stripes. Inside the front panel on both sides near the waist is a short strap with a plated clasp on the end. The clasps can be linked together to form a belt around the wearer's waist that holds the front panels together. A pocket with a slit opening has been let into the lining of the left breast and another large patch pocket has been sewn onto the inside of the left front panel below the waistline.
