Description

Studio group portrait of three soldiers of the 5th Australian Light Horse Regiment. Identified back left: probably 196 Private Henry Lackie Cobb, a farmer of Murgon Qld, he enlisted on 7 October 1914 and sailed with B Squadron aboard HMAT Persic. He returned to Australia with the rank of lieutenant and was discharged on 8 October 1918. Seated in the centre is 295 Sergeant Saddler Urban James Cuneen, 5th Australian Light Horse Regiment. A saddler of Brisbane, Qld, he enlisted on 26 October 1914 and sailed aboard HMAT Persic on 21 December 1914. He returned to Australia on 11 April 1916 and was discharged medically unfit. The man on the far right is unidentified.
