Officer's overalls : Army Service Corps, New South Wales Colonial Military Forces
Description
Dark blue wool gabardine overalls with celluloid buttoned waist, buttoned fly opening and two stripes of white wool, each 2cm wide, extending down the side seams to form a four buttoned strap under instep. Waist and fly lined with black cotton twill, fork with striped white cotton. Curved welt pockets at waist on each side. Waist also fastened with broad metal hook and eye.
History / Summary
The Army Service Corps in Australia had its beginning in Victoria in 1886. New South Wales followed suit with its own Commissariat and Transport Corps in 1891, known as the Army Service Corps from 1893. After Federation in 1901 the Corps became known as the Australian Army Service Corps.
