Sweetheart powder compact : Mrs G E Watkins
Description
Brass powder compact with a rising sun badge soldered to the top right corner. The outside of the compact has a ribbed surface. The compact opens with a clasp on the right and inside is the empty powder compartment covered by a hinged, downward opening lid with a press clasp.
History / Summary
This powder compact was a gift from Q89148 Sapper Allan Wilbert Watkins to his wife Gladys Edith Watkins in 1942. Sapper Watkins was born on 21 September 1908 and was a builder before enlisting in the Army on 2 July 1941. He served in Darwin as an engineer with 1 Army Troop Company Royal Australian Engineers and was discharged on 16 October 1942.
