Description
US Army Military Police (MPs) (left rear) on a wharf at Inchon, South Korea, waiting to receive recently released North Korean or Chinese prisoners of war (POWs), from Koje-do Island. A US Navy Landing Ship Tank (LST) number 1096 is tied up at right as US Army buses prepare to receive the POWs and a US Liberty Ship, the SS Lewis Emery JR, is tied up behind the LST. The prisoners are about to be repatriated as part of Operation Little Switch or Operation Big Switch. This photograph is one of a series taken by Australian Mr Douglas (Doug) Bushby in his capacity as a UN accredited War Correspondent. Mr Bushby devoted much of his time to missionary work amongst Korean refugees, orphans and North Korean and Chinese prisoners of war.
