Description
North Korean or Chinese prisoners of war (POWs), from Koje-do Island, disembarking from Landing Ship Tank (LST) 1090, at Inchon, South Korea. LST 643 is tied up at the rear. An immaculately dressed MP standing on the ramp appears to be addressing the POWs, several of whom are walking with the assistance of new crutches. The prisoners are about to be repatriated as part of Operation Little Switch or Operation Big Switch. This photograph is one of a series taken by Australian Mr Douglas (Doug) Bushby in his capacity as a UN accredited War Correspondent. Mr Bushby devoted much of his time to missionary work amongst Korean refugees, orphans and North Korean and Chinese prisoners of war.
